Food and drink, Pão de Deus

Pão de Deus

This lovely brioche bun, whose name means God’s bread, is eaten for breakfast in Portugal. It is topped with a custard-like mixture containing coconut flakes and is sprinkled with icing sugar. I recently discovered these in Lisbon and am happy to eat them as they come, but surprisingly many people eat them with cheese and/or ham!
